From time to time in response to the Spirit the Daughters discern a call to engage in a corporate ministry. Such is the case for DeCicé Hall, which joins Adelaide’s Place in Atlantic City NJ, The Marian Center in Holyoke, Nardin Academy in Buffalo, and St. Joseph’s School for the Deaf in the Bronx, NY as a corporate work of the US Province.

On Friday, April 26, 2013 the Hall was dedicated by His Excellency Timothy McDonnell, Bishop of Springfield, who blessed DeCicé Hall during Mass with the Daughters and invited guests. An open house was held over the summer.

In its first months the facility has hosted a number of groups, including the local office of the New England Farm Workers Council; Junior League of Greater Springfield general and board meetings; local Diocesan deanery council; Al-Anon anniversary celebration; Ward 7 Neighborhood Watch meetings with guests Jeff Balanchine and Mayor Alex Morse; ION Interfaith Network; JustFaith EngagingSpirituality; Homewatch Caregivers wellness activity; and the Daughters of the Heart of Mary 2013 Provincial Assembly.

Hosting of workshops, retreat experiences, wellness events, seminars, lectures, small group meetings, film screenings and discussions is set or being planned. Inquiries come into the office on a regular basis. And, DHM from around the Province offer numerous contributions including prayers, input, and connections to further the ministry.

Surely the Holy Spirit is overseeing this corporate ministry. On the basis of the first months’ experience we have good reason to expect the ministry to contribute to the Kingdom of God in the year to come.
